Cabbage and Onions


Ahhhh, simple side dishes are the best!  A few real ingredients and a simple directions = sold!  This recipe calls for just 4 simple ingredients and always hits the spot when you need some warm feel good food.  This always reminds me of my grandparents and our Polish roots.  This makes a lot and is great heated up in your lunch box the next day!


– 1 head of cabbage, sliced

– 1 onion, sliced

– 2 cloves of garlic, minced

-1/3 to 1/2 stick of butter

-salt and pepper



1. Melt butter in medium skillet over medium heat

2. Add cabbage, onions, garlic, salt and pepper and cook down over medium heat until fully softened, about 20 minutes

note- if your pan gets too dry at any point during cooking, just add a little more butter.

3. Enjoy!
